Last week the TATRA TRUCKS company signed a binding contract for 166 fire trucks which it will produce for Slovakia. Although TATRA TRUCKS considered its direct participation in the tender, in the end it decided to opt for teaming up with a Slovak manufacturer of special superstructures.
The contract is worth 600M crowns.
The truck company is going to supply Slovakia with 166 TATRA trucks; specifically it will be the 6×6.1 T815 – 731R32 25 325 type, which is a special fire truck of the so-called 7-series range popular for its low total height. It will be CAS30 water tenders with the capacity of 9 000 liters of water and 500 liters of foam. Superstructures will be supplied by a tried and tested manufacturer – a Slovak branch of the THT s.r.o. company. Last year Czech firefighters also purchased a hundred fire trucks from the Kopřivnice-based truck maker.
“We hope that this project will enable us to prove the extraordinary performance of modern TATRA fire trucks in Slovakia, where we last supplied a larger numbers of trucks before the 1989 Velvet Revolution. We hope that in the future there will be also contracts for other special trucks, such as chassis cabs for containers or platform trucks with LHS for universal needs of the Integrated Rescue System,” said Jiří Kašpárek, Head of TATRA TRUCKS Marketing Department, commenting on this success.
About one hundred units will be made this year, the second part of the order by the end of August 2015.
